Who we are

The Sales and Operations team is the vibrant beating heart of Zuto. It’s the largest department in the company, with over 250 employees working out of our Head Office in Macclesfield.

We look after every step of the customer journey, which includes…

  • taking applications over the phone
  • helping customers with find a car
  • matching them with a lender
  • sorting the paperwork and liaising with the car dealer

…and basically everything in between. And we do all this while making sure that the experience as fun and stress-free as possible. The final piece of the process, which is also the best, is that we get to call the customer with the exciting news that the car is either ready to collect or will be delivered to their home.

We’re pretty proud of the fact that we’ve created something really special at Zuto. And it shows in how much our customers love us—our NPS is higher than Apple’s! This is because of the brilliant people we’ve recruited and trained along the way, who live and breathe the values of the company. Couple that with the fantastic technology we’ve developed, and we’re able to give the customer a great experience from start to finish.

When we find brilliant people, we’ll do all we can to nurture and develop them within the Sales & Ops team. We know that people who are ambitious need the opportunity to grow or we run the risk of losing them. So, we make sure that every person is given the chance to develop themselves fully, with our support.

Every layer of management in Sales and Ops, from the Sales Director downwards, has been promoted from within, as part of our award winning training programme*. To date, 31 people have reached their current positions from internal promotion. Even our CEO, Jim, started by advising customers of their approvals over the phone, and Ryan, his co-founder, worked on finding cars and getting the deals paid out.

We need a number of different talents to make the department run smoothly, and we appreciate that people brains work differently. So together we’ll help you add real value, no matter where your expertise lie. For example, we know that some people thrive on building relationships over the phone, others who may have a keen eye for analytical detail. As long as you are target driven, enthusiastic, energetic and considerate, you’ll fit perfectly in this fast-paced, dynamic and exciting team.

How did you hear about the wonders of Zuto, and when did you join the party?

I heard about Zuto via Recruitment Company, I wanted to work for a business which was growing and offered good potential. I joined back in May 2012.

How do you contribute to help customers make a better big decision?

As an assistant team leader, I spend most of my days on the phone directly with our customers. I love doing what I do because I understand the possible risks involved with buying a car, and the stress it can cause. It’s just really rewarding when a customer is offering so much thanks for helping them through this journey. . On other days, you will find me coaching members of the team, so that we can offer a really consistent service.

What's your typical day like in Zutopia?

My typical day normally starts with a nice hot cup of coffee and some porridge – fuel for the brain. Then I make sure my team know what they’re doing for the day and deal with any issues that require my attention. When that’s done, I crack on with calls, making as many of our customer happy as I can before the day ends!

What's the best bit about life at Zuto?

The best bit about life at Zuto has to be the people we work with.

How much do you love your fellow Zutonites?

LOADS!!!! 😊

What three words describe Zuto?

Amazing, opportunity, and fun.

When you’re not loving life at Zuto, what can you be found doing?

Working on my cars, taking the other half out for a day or spending time with the family.

Finally, who would you like to hear from next? Nominate the next Zutonite:

Horto!

Tom Horton

Chief Operating Officer/Sales and Ops Director

How did you hear about the wonders of Zuto and when did you join the party?

I was lucky enough to join the CarLoan4U party, as it was back then, eight and a half years ago. I finished Uni, went travelling for a year, worked for another finance company for a year. I then then heard about the amazing CarLoan4U, with James and Ryan at the helm, I got in touch…the rest, as they say, is history.

How do you contribute to help customers make a better big decision?

As Chief Operation Officer it is my job to ensure the business is focusing on the right things, so that we can hit our strategic goals. In my Sales & Ops Director role it’s my job to make sure the business continues to grow. I do this by ensuring all the sales/ops functions of the business focus on building on our incredible customer service experience by continuously improving.

What’s your typical day like in Zutopia?

My first port of call is to make sure all the numbers are pointing in the right direction. My second job is to circle round my team, making sure everyone is happy. The rest of the day will be spent thinking about some crazy ideas that could make Zuto even better than it already is!

Tell us the best bit about life at Zuto?

The people I work with.

How much do you love your fellow Zutonites

As much as I loved my first pet (Butterscotch the Guinea Pig)…and that was a lot.

What three words describe Zuto?

Passion, exciting and friendly

When you’re not loving life at Zuto, what can you be found doing?

Spending as much time as possible with my amazing family and friends.

Dean Topliss

Sales Executive

How did you hear about the wonders of Zuto and when did you join the party?

I was recommended by a friend and joined in October 2013.

How do you contribute to help customers make better big decision?

I use my expert knowledge of car finance to help support customers through their car buying journey.

What’s your typical day like in Zutopia?

I spend my days on the phone talking to our customers. We usually have a little catch-up in the morning, where we chat about any problem or issues and plan the day’s work. When that’s done, I basically get on with speaking to people. I love trying to get as much done as possible in the time I have.

Tell us the best bit about life at Zuto?

The best bit about Zuto is it’s chilled out way of doing things. You’re left to manage your own work, which means you can spend time making sure each and every person you speak to leaves the conversation happy. And, what’s really nice is that you are recognised when you go the extra mile and rewarded for your for hard work.

How much do you love your fellow Zutonites?

I get on well with my fellow colleagues, team work is key. I love the banter and would go out of my way to help anyone with anything.

What three words describe Zuto?

Chilled, rewarding and growing.

When you’re not loving life at Zuto, what can you be found doing?

I play football twice weekly, I like to spend time with my wife, go out with friends and family. We have a baby on the way, due in early May, so we’re busy getting everything ready. We also have a puppy that keeps us entertained too.

Finally who would you like to hear from next? Nominate the next Zutonite.

I would like to nominate my good friend Chris Coales – Team Leader. Chris the questions are on their way to you. Watch this spec to meet Chris.
